One + One: A Human Network plays this Friday, Feb 19th, at 7pm in the Plaster Student Union Theatre on Missouri State's campus. Shot in Kenya, Africa, it's a documentary about how micro loans are changing the face of international relief efforts aimed at eradicating global poverty. The microfinance movement connects people one person at a time, challenging people to think about foreign aid in a completely new way. Instead of simply supplying food and relief supplies on an as-needed basis, micro-financing organizations provide small loans that provide the tools for poor families to create self-sustaining businesses which can break the cycle of poverty. Directed by Sid McGregory, it's the winner of the Broadcast Education Association’s top award for best student documentary. Thanks to Steve Olson for the heads up on this.
